Endemic only to the Vanuatu Islands off the coast of Australia, this most unusual palm has perfectly pleated or 'ruffled' leaves that grow in a semi circular fan shape. These handsome leaves are shiny and broad, spanning up to 20 inches in diameter. This slow growing palm can eventually reach a maximum height of 6 feet.

This palm prefers bright, indirect light, but never place in full sun, which will brown the leaves.

When watering, allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering again. (Watch out for spines at the lower section of the petioles, which can be quite sharp.)
