The Fiddle Leaf Fig is native to West Africa, where it grows in lowland tropical rainforests. After 10-15 years it reaches maturity as an impressive tree, with large, dark green leaves up to 30cm long with prominent veins, shaped like violins. Because of their striking stature these plants make an instant focal point and are much sought after for interior planting.

All figs enjoy bright conditions but not direct light, so don't be tempted to place in sunshine, which will scorch its leaves. Best practice watering with a fig is to saturate the soil with a thorough watering, before letting it become almost completely dry.
